This private course has a variety of terrain to challenge the most experienced golfer. Water hazards come into play on many holes, including three that require shots over water to the greens. The greens are severely undulating and well-bunkered, and the fairways are tree lined. "Golf Digest" rated this 45th best out of "America's 100 Greatest Courses" for 1995-96, and 49th best for 1997-98. The same publication ranked it as the 3rd "Best in State" course for the years 1995 through 1998. In addition, "GOLF Magazine" ranked it 85th among the "Top 100 Courses in the U.S." for 1995, 94th for 1997 and 88th for 1999. "GOLFWEEK" awarded it 70th among "America's 100 Best Modern Courses" for 1997, 64th for 1998 and 83rd for 1999. The course was redesigned by Paul Erath in 1965, and by Arnold Palmer and Ed Seay in 1988. A caddie is mandatory if you choose to walk the course.
