This tight course has fast greens, and water hazards come into play on three holes. "Golf Digest" rated this course 22nd best out of "America's 100 Greatest Courses" for 1995-96, and 28th best for 1997-98. They also rated it as the 5th "Best in State" course for the years 1995 through 1998. In addition, "GOLF Magazine" awarded it 28th out of the "Top 100 Courses in the U.S." for 1995, 31st in 1997 and 34th in 1999. "GOLFWEEK" selected it 29th among "America's 100 Best Classical Courses" for 1997, 25th in 1998 and 21st in 1999.
