This resort, named to "GOLF Magazine's" 1998 list of "Silver Medal Resorts," hosted the 1996 U.S. Women's Open, won by Annika Sorenstam. Donald Ross played most of his golf here the last fifteen years of his life. The design features gently rolling terrain, fast, undulating greens and narrow fairways. Water hazards come into play on seven holes. The most difficult stretch is holes #3 through #5. "Golf Digest" rated this course as the 10th "Best Public Course" in the state for 1996. In addition, "GOLF Magazine" ranked it 31st under the 1998 category of "Top 100 You Can Play in the U.S.," and "GOLFWEEK" ranked it 53rd among "America's 100 Best Classical Courses" for 1997, 85th in 1998 and 61st in 1999. The club offers private and group lessons.
