Kentucky’s Pride: The Lakeside Municipal Golf Course
The beautiful Lakeside Municipal Golf Course, located in Lexington, Kentucky, is a fine example of Kentucky’s luscious landscape. The gently rolling fairways and luscious, sweeping greens are a sight to behold. The views alone ensure a pleasing game of golf.
The Lakeside Municipal Golf Course opened in 1969. It has hosted the Kentucky Open as well as the Kentucky State Amateur in the past.
The course offers 18 challenging holes of golf, with water hazards coming into play on five of those. The green is described as bent grass in nature. A driving range is offered from the green as well.
This is a public golf course with an open guest policy. The doors open at 7:45 and you’ll need to make reservations 7 days in advance of your planned excursion if you expect to play. Golf clubs and golf carts are available for rental from the Pro Shop which opens at 7:45 with the rest of the course.
The dress code policy is very lenient, only shirt and shoes required to play. Well, most likely pants as well unless you want your game cut short by a visit from the authorities. There is no alcohol permitted on the premises of Lakeside Municipal so you’ll have to celebrate your stunning golf skills elsewhere in Lexington if you so desire. A snack bar is available to help you get through your game.
This may be an older course, compared to many other golf courses available in Kentucky, but this one just seems to get better with time.
