Rockies Roll Through Castle Pines In Colorado

When Jack Nicklaus was designing the Castle Pines Country Club in Castle Rock Colorado, the word wicked must have been used on several occasions. While the views of the nearby Rocky Mountains are truly spectacular, this 18-hole par 72 course offers the heavy hitters a 7,230 yard run through the mountains.

Accessible by way of Interstate 25 in the Castle Pines Village, it would be easy to get lost in the course’s majestic clubhouse, sitting on the top of a cliff 7,000 feet above sea level with a grand view of the Rocky Mountains.

Hole number 5 has the middle tees only 573 yards from the green, but your tee shot will be guarded by trees in the middle of the fairway. Despite a creek running the length of the fairway on the right side that is where you will want to be as tall pines will slap balls out of the air on the left side as they fly towards the narrow approach. The raised green is guarded on the left as well by a pair of bunkers.

A par 3 of 131 yards should be a given on any golf course, with the exception of hole 14 at Castle Pines. You tee shot will have to fly the water to land one the long and narrow green. The length of the putting surface and pin placement will determine your club selection and where on the green your ball lands.

You will head back to the clubhouse on a short 291-yard par 4, but you tee shot heads over water before encountering a hard dogleg left. The tiered green will also require your approach to the green to be accurate.
