Ross Bridge Spans Golf Trails In Birmingham
Taking advantage of the natural landscape, Robert Jones Sr. designed this 18-hole professional course at Ross Bridge to be one of Birmingham’s finest. As part of the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trails, the Ross Bridge course hosts the annual Regions Charity Classic on the Champions Tour Schedule.
An eighty-foot waterfall separates the ninth and 18th holes while 10 holes use two man-made lakes for boundaries. This waterfall strikes a beautiful balance to the lake on the right side of the fairway of the 18th hole, making it arguably one of the most gorgeous finishing holes in the state of Alabama. You will have to hit a straight tee shot to fly the water and hit the landing zone on the opposite shore.
The seventh hole offers a spectacular view as the par 5 hole rises on a ridge high above the rest of the course and the 410-yard, par 4 ninth hole will leave your mind wandering while overlooking the wonderland leading to the falls. Large putting greens allow for some errant approach shots but, with the large surfaces, come some challenging pin placements.
This 330-acre course, just south of Birmingham off Interstate 65 will require plenty of muscle to reach its 8,200 total yardage. The par 3 holes range from 167 to 202 yards while the shortest of the four par 5 holes is 538 yards. Hole 13 at 614 yards will take a pair of strong woods to hit the green in regulation, while a couple of short par 4’s could be turned as birdies, giving you a slight edge against the natural lay of the par 5’s.
